March of Dimes Walk

We had a wonderful walk on Saturday. Thank you so much to all that donated to such a great cause. The weather was awesome the entire walk. We sat down to enjoy some free food at the conclusion of the walk and it started to sprinkle. We were looking forward to playing in the kid zone, but we were rained out. Here are a few pics.

I can't wait....

...to see this smiling face again.

Our poor little munchkin has the stomach flu. He is so miserable and it is breaking my heart. He started vomiting yesterday evening. He has only vomited 4 times, but that is 4 times too many. It is the saddest thing to witness. He has also been running a fever all day today. He is just not himself and I am praying for a better day and a better boy tomorrow!

I should be in bed, but I am going to blog instead

L - lovable
U - unforgettable
C - chatty
A - adorable
S - silly

Just a couple of bullets

*Easter was Lucas' first real introduction to candy. He doesn't get a lot of it, but on special occasions or if I need to distract him he will get a piece. He can say "smarties," "m&M's," and "candy!" really well.
*Lucas has started saying the names of his friends and has named his grandparents. I love it and I know they do too. We always referred to them as grandma and grandpa and he picked a unique name for each of them himself.
*Lucas refuses to sit in the bathtub. He stands throughout his entire bath. Tonight Brian was giving him his bath and tried to make him sit and he just cried. We have a whirlpool bath in the new house that I am eager to have him try. (Thanks for the idea Steph.)
*Lucas is finally getting interested in TV. I am happy he hasn't been interested in it, but it is helpful to have him distracted for a few minutes while I do some house work or laundry. We only watch Sesame Street, he loves "Melmo," and occasionally Dora or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
*Playing outside is still the highlight of Lucas' life.
*Lucas is so happy to have his Great Grandma back home from AZ. Great Grandma = more time outside.
*Lucas has started counting along with us from 1-5. Definitely not perfect, but you can tell he is trying.
*Brian is having fun teaching Lucas new words and phrases. He recently taught him "ahhh, nuts!" "peace" along with the sign and "oh, yeahhh!"
*Lucas is super friendly. He makes sure to say "hi" & "bye-bye" (repeatedly) to EVERYONE we see in the store or in a restaurant.

M&M Spring Party

Friday we went to our Mothers & More Spring Party. The weather was absolutely perfect. Warm, warm, warm! I love spring!!! Lucas participated in his 4th (and final) Easter egg hunt of the season. He played and played, then had a meltdown (see pic below). I honestly think he is teething again. He woke up with a clear runny nose yesterday, he has been drool free for awhile and that returned and he has constantly had his hands in his mouth which is something new. Today has been the same.

All the eggs

Some of the kids & a sad Lucas. Sweet Evan in the orange shirt put his arm around Lucas!

I love this look!

Productive Parenting

I found this cool site from another blog I read. All you have to do is type in your email and childs date of birth and it will send you daily age appropriate activities to do with your child. It also has an activities library you can search yourself. I sometimes feel like we get into a rut and definitely get bored if we are stuck in the house for more then two days straight! I just browsed the site, but it looks pretty good!

Easter

Easter was spent having brunch with Mimi and Papa and my Aunt and Uncle. Mmmm, I love a good brunch! Afterwards we headed down to Peru to visit with Memaw, Papa and G. Aunt Marsha. Lucas hunted eggs and we had a delicious dinner. It was a beautiful day, unlike today which was gloomy, cold and rainy. Here are some pics of Lucas hunting. He has one more "hunt" on Friday when our Mothers and More group meets for our Spring Party. They are calling for a sunny, 67 degree day!! Woohoo!

Shhh!!! I'm hunting wabbits...and eggs!

We went to another Easter Egg Hunt this morning. I think Easter is turning into one of my favorite holidays. Such a great holiday to develop fun family traditions. Of course, when Lucas is a little older we will explain to him that Easter is more then just egg hunts and a furry bunny, but for now we are just having fun with him.
Lucas saw the Easter Bunny again this morning, but I opted not to force him onto her lap. He once again kept his distance and said "bye-bye, Bunny." Maybe next year!

Really focusing on gathering his eggs!

This is the look of a little boy who just spotted the Easter Bunny

The South Bend Chocolate Cafe

We met my friend Katy downtown at the Chocolate Cafe for some girl talk and play time. Lucas had a great time exploring the Cocoa Tree climber and met the Easter Bunny. He waved to him and said "Bye-Bye Bunny!" He did not want to sit in his lap. Maybe he will warm up to the Easter Bunny on Saturday when we go on an Easter Egg hunt.

Auntie Katy and Lucas won some loot!

Look Who's 19 Months Old!

Here's the "big" guy after his bath tonight. He sure is growing up fast. We are so proud of him!

The Post About Jeans

I am no fashionista. I prefer to be comfortable at the expense of being fashionable. I rarely pay full price for any item of clothing with the exception of tennis shoes and jeans. I definitely get my monies worth out of every pair of tennis shoes I own. I wear my tennis shoes daily, they are well loved. Jean shopping for me is the equivalent of bathing suit shopping for most. Don't get me wrong, I hate bathing suit shopping as well. Hence I will be wearing the same brown tankini from Old Navy this summer as I wore last summer. But, I digress...back to the jeans. A typical day jean shopping for me involves at least 10 stores and the purchase of zero pairs of jeans. I am petite, have zero curves and wear a small size. I cannot shop online for jeans, I must try on every pair before I buy. Most of my jeans are from American Eagle, but they are never a sure fit. So before I have to go to drastic measures and begin buying these GEMS, please let me know what your favorite jeans are and where you buy them. Being the fashionista that I am, I probably have never heard of 98% of jean brands that are hip and cool these days. Thanks in advance from Brian who would rather not see me in THESE , aren't they jazzie?!

Tot Skate

Friday morning we went with one of our play groups to Tot Skate at the local roller rink. It was hysterical and a lot of fun. It was for ages 4 and under so the little ones were safe from crazy big kids. You were allowed to bring a stroller, push toys, ride on toys and of course skates. Lucas did really well with the skates and I was cracking up the entire time.
On a side note we went to the same roller rink that I would frequent during my elementary school and middle school days. It looked and smelled exactly the same! Sadly, I don't think they have even replaced the carpets since then. If you would have told me some 15-20 years ago that I would be back with my child I would have thought you were crazy. Too funny.

The Department of Redundancy Department

Once again we found ourselves at the school playground. After we filled our bellies with delicious french toast from IHOP (who doesn't love breakfast for dinner?) we stopped by the school for a little playtime. Lucas loved this swing. Because it is a school playground they don't have infant swings, but they do have this neat swing for the special needs students. Lucas thought it was awesome.

Agua

Lucas loves to be a "big" boy. He must try to do things by himself first before letting us help him. He loves to drink out of cups and REALLY loves to use a straw. It is frightening how independent he is becoming, but also a little refreshing! :)

Daffodil Days

This is one of two daffodils that were in bloom today. I think Spring has sprung!
